The Sydney Community Kollel is a non-profit initiative, voluntarily run and supported by the Sydney community. Its work is made possible through the generosity, partnership, and commitment of individuals who believe in strengthening Jewish life across the city.

OUR MISSION is to work hand-in-hand with the Sydney community to elevate Jewish life through Torah learning, inspiration, and connection.

Hence, strengthening Jewish identity, deepening heritage, and helping reduce intermarriage by engaging and educating the next generation. Together, we strive to build a strong, proud, and vibrant Jewish future.

  • About the Founder -

Rabbi Elchanan Meyer was born and raised in Bondi, Sydney. After attending Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Baltimore from 2005 to 2013, he continued his learning at the renowned Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem.


In 2016, he married Mimi Hassid, daughter of Rabbi Ron Hassid, Chief Rabbi of Gibraltar. Together, they are deeply committed to inspiring Jewish growth and strengthening communities.


Rabbi Meyer has been involved in outreach and education for many years. From his early participation in kiruv programs across America to his ongoing teaching and community engagement, he is known for his warmth, approachability, and ability to connect with people from all backgrounds.


His vision for the Sydney Community Kollel is rooted in a lifelong dedication to uplifting, educating, and empowering the Jewish community he has always called home.
